The Director of People & Culture will play a crucial role in shaping the organizational culture and ensuring a positive employee experience at Pomeroy Lodging LP. This senior-level position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with the company's overall business goals, while fostering a collaborative and driven work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Alignment:
- Develop and implement human resources strategies that support the company's business objectives, collaborating closely with the executive team.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments and deploy strategies and tactics to achieve desired outcomes.
- Emphasize talent acquisition, retention, development, and succession planning to drive long-term success.
- Leadership and Employee Relations:
- Lead human resources initiatives across the organization, providing guidance and support to leaders at all levels to foster a culture of trust, honesty, respect, and gratitude.
- Engage with senior leaders to handle employee issues, conflicts, and disciplinary actions, ensuring alignment with the company's core values.
- Coach and support leaders to ensure they have the tools and knowledge to handle employee concerns proactively, preventing conflicts from escalating.
- Recruitment and Selection:
- Oversee the recruitment and selection strategy for the organization, ensuring all pipelines are active and working in collaboration with corporate human resources to maximize recruitment efforts.
- Manage the onboarding process to ensure a positive first impression and successful integration of new employees into the company culture.
- Compensation, Benefits, and Compliance:
- Collaborate with senior operational and human resource leaders to design and implement total compensation packages, including recognition and incentive programs tailored to the organization's needs.
- Ensure that compensation structures, salary reviews, and benefits programs are competitive and in line with market trends, with a focus on work-life balance.
- Ensure that the organization's people practices are compliant with legal requirements and organizational values, managing the risk of litigation and conflict.
- Training and Development:
- Identify training gaps and collaborate with corporate human resources to develop and deliver organization-wide training programs that align with the company's specific operational needs.
- Work with senior leaders to integrate training and development as a central component of the company's strategy to drive efficiency and achieve desired results.
- Health, Safety, and Wellness:
- Lead the implementation of health, safety, and wellness policies and procedures within the organization, ensuring compliance through training, monitoring, and proactive safeguarding measures.
- Manage the employee residence experience, focusing on the health, safety, and comfort of employees residing in company-provided accommodations.
- Internal Communication and Collaboration:
- Work with senior leaders to build effective internal communication channels that resonate with all employees, ensuring alignment with corporate human resources initiatives.
- Connect meaningfully with employees, ensuring promises are kept and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Metrics and Analytics:
- Utilize data to assess human resources performance against agreed KPIs, ensuring that the organization meets its people-related goals.
- Monitor labor budgets and residence allocations of all departments within the organization, working with leaders to address inefficiencies and optimize resource allocation.
- Visibility and Accessibility:
- Maintain a visible and accessible presence throughout the organization, building strong working relationships and being perceived as a trusted partner in problem-solving.
- Execute assigned deliverables with minimal follow-up required, ensuring timeliness, scope, and quality in all human resources initiatives.
- Personal and Professional Conduct:
- Demonstrate behaviors and communication that support all five of the organization's core values (Family, Honesty, Industry, Quality, Winning) serving as a role model for all employees.
Requirements:
- 10 years of human resources experience with time spent in premium or luxury hotel environments.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong collaboration skills, ability to work cross-functionally and across the wider organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Preferred that the candidate is knowledgeable about the Canadian Rockies mountain culture, interested in local recreation, history, or environment.
Working Conditions:
The Director of People & Culture may be exposed to long shifts that at times include late hours, weekends, and holidays. The position will work closely with the General Manager as a business partner. This is a fast-paced working environment with high levels of interaction with employees and other stakeholders. The Director of People & Culture will spend a lot of time on their feet, multitasking competing priorities, effectively leading employees, solving problems, and fostering a culture of service excellence.
