Rehabilitation Counsellor

Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at the Indigenous-led RAAM Clinic. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide long-term case management, systems navigation, and counselling services to individuals in need of care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide intake and assessment, counselling, referrals, educational sessions, and development of treatment plans for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues.
- Collaborate with withdrawal management services, addiction treatment agencies, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Document client information and progress in a clear and concise manner, adhering to required formats and legal guidelines.
- Facilitate problem-solving techniques with clients, in consultation with the RAAM team and other allied health professionals.
- Support a Collaborative Care Model and work towards harm-reduction and the journey of healing defined by the individual.
- Completion of a recognized degree or diploma in Social Services or a related health discipline.
- Minimum six months of experience working with individuals and families managing addiction.
- Minimum two years of mental health experience at the para-professional level, providing support services to adults with addiction and mental illness.
- Basic familiarity with addiction and mental illness presentations, as well as relevant aspects of the Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Act, and Child & Family Services Act.
- Understanding of Trauma Informed Care and knowledge of social issues affecting Indigenous populations in Winnipeg.
- Mental Health First Aide and ASIST certificates or willingness to obtain.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.
- Computer skills, including Internet and Microsoft Programs (Word, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
