Job Title: Automation Specialist

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to join its Planning, Development & Construction department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing project management, design, documentation, programming, and commissioning for building automation systems on campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement safe and reliable controls systems that meet University standards and incorporate sustainable controls strategies.
  • Communicate design intent through AutoCAD drawings and supplementary documentation to stakeholders.
  • Manage controls project scope, quality, and costs, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team to coordinate commissioning efforts and optimize system performance.
  • Create and program databases and graphical HMI for building automation systems.
  • Evaluate and select equipment to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist stakeholders in troubleshooting controls problems and provide support and training to other controls personnel.
  • Maintain current knowledge of building automation systems and relevant regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Technologist's diploma from a recognized technical institution in a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in building automation controls engineering, with preference for HVAC design/production experience and controls commissioning experience.
  • IT-related experience is an asset.
Preferred Skills:
  • Fluency in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Orientation to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize work and complete initiatives on-time, on-budget, and in alignment with client needs.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary range of $67,681.00 - $105,753.00 per annum, commensurate with education and experience.
