Responsibilities

We are looking to fill three (3) positions:

- One Regular Full-Time role in the Transportation Infrastructure Division, Development and Studies Group

- One Regular Full-Time role in the Transportation Design Division

- One Temporary Full-Time role in the Transportation Design Division (12 months duration with potential for extension)

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager, taking on the role of group leader and providing project oversight by directing, coordinating, and reviewing road-related projects and engineering submissions conducted by both internal staff and external consultants.

Key duties include:

  • Offering technical and procedural advice on the planning, design, and scheduling of road and storm drainage projects
  • Conducting thorough and constructive technical evaluations of engineering submissions, including municipal road designs, stormwater management plans, traffic impact studies, and environmental assessments
  • Reviewing and proposing potential rehabilitation and asset management strategies for regional road and storm drainage systems
  • Assessing private accesses on regional roads to ensure compliance with established standards and guidelines
  • Coordinating project schedules and ensuring adherence to timelines
  • Preparing and submitting applications to secure necessary approvals from various agencies
  • Assisting in the development of budgets and tender documentation
  • Evaluating and suggesting modifications to existing standards and software related to municipal road design
  • Organizing and participating in meetings, information sessions, and workshops with stakeholders
  • Managing and responding to inquiries from the public, internal staff, and external agencies

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A three-year post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineering Technologist
  • Extensive experience in the planning and design of municipal roadworks
  • A solid understanding of geo-technical practices, utility coordination, environmental assessments, and traffic engineering
  • Familiarity with construction methods, Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS), and relevant legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, project management, and organizational skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with minimal supervision
  • A valid Ontario Class 'G' Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Experience with traffic impact assessments, traffic operations analysis, land development, roundabout design, and coordination of multi-discipline municipal road projects will be considered an asset.
