About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Geologist to join our team in the Geoscience and Mines Branch. As an Environmental Geologist, you will play a key role in leading the department's radon gas research work, managing the Department's real-time aquifer monitoring network, developing and maintaining the Department's hydrogeological information, contributing to characterizing karst geological systems across the province, and working with geoscience information teams to disseminate relevant, timely and accessible information and advice required for the management of the province's environmental geohazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the department's radon gas research work
  • Manage the Department's real-time aquifer monitoring network
  • Develop and maintain the Department's hydrogeological information
  • Contribute to characterizing karst geological systems across the province
  • Work with geoscience information teams to disseminate relevant, timely and accessible information and advice required for the management of the province's environmental geohazards
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, earth sciences or environmental geosciences
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a geoscience related field, or an M.Sc. with 4 years of related experience
  • Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) Designation or eligibility for professional designation with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Nova Scotia
  • Valid driver's license
