The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled Geologist 1-2 to join our team in the Geological Survey Division. As a key member of our geoscience team, you will provide support to senior staff geoscientists in developing and advancing provincial geoscience projects.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and analyze geoscience data using various methods, including field mapping and sampling, operating X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), and supporting survey activities such as drone-mounted LIDAR.
- Design and build geochemical databases, compile datasets, and analyze geoscientific data to support a wide range of geoscientific programs.
- Provide QA/QC and build GIS products in support of geoscientific programs undertaken by the Geological Survey Division.
- Bachelor's degree in geology, earth sciences, or environmental geosciences.
- Minimum 3 summer terms of experience in a geoscience-related field.
- Experience working with geoscientific data, databases, and GIS applications.
- Field mapping and sampling experience in bedrock or surficial geology programs, ideally in a mineral exploration setting.
- Valid driver's license for traveling throughout the province.
