Job Overview

The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) consists of specially trained nurses who provide care across various clinical settings, addressing staffing needs due to short-term absences or fluctuations in patient acuity and volume.

The NRT includes Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) assigned to inpatient units. Team members have opportunities for training in specialized areas such as Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), and Postpartum care.

As a Registered Nurse within the Nursing Resource Team, your primary responsibility will be to implement the nursing process in delivering patient care across diverse clinical environments. You will be accountable for all aspects of the nursing process while providing direct patient care. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care tailored to specific patient needs. You will coordinate care that emphasizes patient transitions throughout the continuum of care, educate patients and families, and enhance factors that contribute to patient satisfaction. You will administer medications and procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines, document observations and changes in patient conditions, and collaborate with healthcare team members to promote positive patient outcomes while delivering comprehensive nursing care.

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification at the time of hire.
  • Recent experience in acute care nursing is an asset

  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Compassionate approach towards patients, families, and colleagues
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that require heavy lifting and significant physical effort.
  • Strong physical assessment skills are essential (preference will be given to candidates who have completed a physical assessment course)
  • Excellent critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance history.

Note: If this position is not filled by an internal candidate, New Graduate Nurses will be considered with the following qualifications:

  • Eligibility under the New Graduate Initiative through Health Force Ontario
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program within the last 12 months
  • Successful completion of the Canadian RN Examination (CRNRE or NCLEX-RN) is preferred
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or in progress
  • Current BCLS Certification
  • Recent nursing experience in acute care through clinical placements is an asset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
