About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. This role involves consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up within hospital, home, and community settings. The Occupational Therapist establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, manages a busy caseload, and utilizes clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize daily tasks. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential for this role. The Occupational Therapist provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers, functioning as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team. This role also involves contributing to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines, as well as supervision of OT Assistants. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and the professional standards of their licensing body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

$42.68 Hourly
