Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. This role involves collaborating with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain the patient/client's optimal level of function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home, and/or their community. The successful candidate will establish individualized treatment plans and goals, manage a busy caseload, and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The Occupational Therapist provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers. This role also involves contributing to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and to supervision of OT Assistants. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff are essential. A commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health is also required. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising. Flexibility and the ability to adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility are also necessary. Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.
Hours- Casual Relief
$33.80 - $42.68 Hourly
