Role Purpose

The Manager of Merchant Services – Sales Operations plays a crucial role in driving profitability and revenue growth within the Global Business Markets (GBM) portfolio by supporting the sales team and refining the sales process to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance.

This position is responsible for implementing merchant services sales processes across all business segments (Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate) and will collaborate closely with segment stakeholders and partners to execute sales processes for new product introductions, updates to existing capabilities, and engagement models. The Manager will also focus on identifying and addressing challenges that arise throughout the merchant sales cycle. Success in this role will be measured by increased satisfaction among sales teams and the growth of new opportunities.

The Manager will operate independently, receiving guidance from the Senior Manager, and will engage in interdivisional product and sales groups, including Global Brand and Marketing, Operational organizations (Legal Counsel, Risk and Compliance, AML, Call Centre, Accounting, Systems, Finance, Credit Solutions, and Customer Service, etc.). The Manager must also be adept at managing a complex network of external vendors and partners.

Given the intricacies associated with this product line, prior relevant experience in product management, product engagement, or sales enablement is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to business development and financial success by creating tailored client-facing materials.
  • Collaborate with Sales, the Proposal Writing team, and partners on various requests (e.g., process development and execution, executive support, etc.).
  • Work with the Merchant Services Product and Sales Enablement teams to ensure that new sales processes and product capabilities are well understood and effectively utilized across key segments and within the distribution network.
  • Ensure compliance with the merchant sales governance framework in partnership with stakeholders and segment partners.
  • Analyze and assess the sales process, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and propose and implement solutions to enhance overall sales operations.
  • Maintain sales process documentation, including sales playbooks, standard operating procedures, and best practices, ensuring the sales team is well-informed and compliant with established processes.
  • Foster an environment where internal stakeholders and external partners pursue effective and efficient operations while ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet operational risk, sales conduct, regulatory, and compliance obligations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or postgraduate degree, preferably in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales operations, enablement, project/portfolio management, or a similar role.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and sales teams.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey results, challenges, recommendations, and solutions to various audiences across the organization.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of Global Business Markets services, products, and sales culture.
  • Understanding of the objectives, strategies, and structure of the Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate Bank.
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies, processes, and best practices.
  • 3+ years of experience in stakeholder and vendor management, with relevant experience in the merchant services and/or payment industry.

Work Arrangement: Standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may occur. Moderate domestic travel required.
