ABOUT THE ROLE:

Are you passionate about partnering with luxury brands who create products our clients crave? As the Associate Merchant, you will be responsible for achieving the financial and strategic goals of your assigned portfolio through building and nurturing brand and vendor relationships You will develop and uphold department objectives, brand strategies, client needs, and visual presentation. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Mentor and foster a work environment that embodies Sephora's values while communicating the overall strategy for growth with new product introductions and strategic expansion of current brands
  • Handle assortment, identify areas of opportunity, negotiate training support, co-op funding, RTVs, and sampling, and source new brands that fill an important need gap within the category
  • Interpret and communicate strategic direction within the business unit to ensure that each initiative is developed within the desired timeline including handling brand fill rate and P.O. fulfillment with the inventory management team
  • Collaborate and plan promotions, launches, animations, including fixture/planograms planning and implementation with Internal Partners
  • Collaborate with the Education Team to develop and complete Brand training needs, ensure accurate assortments are posted on Stores Intranet, and provide in-store support as required including communicating brand/business opportunities
  • Ensure compliance by following up on Health Canada regulations and product registration process to aid in the management of new product registration

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree or college diploma in retail management or a related field and 4 years of experience in buying/merchandising or planning
  • You love product (beauty is your jam), understand consumer trends and behaviour, and inspire fearlessness in everything that you do
  • You are curious, a go-getter, and take ownership and responsibility for your work
  • You love tackling problems and using your analytical skills to find solutions
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and relish in working collaboratively with cross-functional groups
  • You have mastered the art of negotiation and communication - you are committed to the development of direct reporting through active listening, observing, and mentoring
  • You are technically savvy and have experience using merchant systems
  • You understand the Canadian marketplace and corresponding vendor organization
