Role Purpose

The Merchant Services Operations Manager plays a crucial role in driving profitability and revenue growth within the Global Business Markets (GBM) portfolio by enhancing the sales team's effectiveness and optimizing sales processes for improved efficiency and performance.

This position is responsible for implementing merchant services sales strategies across all business segments (Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate) and collaborating closely with segment stakeholders and partners to execute sales processes for new product introductions and updates to existing capabilities. The Manager will also identify and address challenges within the merchant sales cycle, with success measured by increased satisfaction among sales teams and the growth of new business opportunities.

The Manager will operate independently, guided by the Senior Manager, and will engage in cross-divisional product and sales initiatives, collaborating with teams such as Global Brand and Marketing, Operational departments (Legal, Risk and Compliance, AML, Call Centre, Accounting, Systems, Finance, Credit Solutions, and Customer Service). The Manager must also adeptly manage a complex network of external vendors and partners.

Given the complexities associated with this product line, prior experience in product management, product engagement, or sales enablement is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive business development and financial success through the creation of tailored client-facing materials.
  2. Collaborate with Sales, the Proposal Writing team, and partners on various requests (e.g., process development, execution, executive support).
  3. Work alongside the Merchant Services Product and Sales Enablement teams to ensure the successful implementation of new sales processes and product capabilities across key segments and the distribution network.
  4. Ensure compliance with the merchant sales governance framework in partnership with stakeholders and segment partners.
  5. Analyze and assess the sales process, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions to enhance overall sales operations.
  6. Maintain sales process documentation, including playbooks, standard operating procedures, and best practices, ensuring the sales team is well-informed and compliant with established processes.
  7. Foster an environment where internal stakeholders and external partners pursue effective operations while ensuring compliance with operational risk, sales conduct, regulatory, and compliance standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or postgraduate degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales operations, enablement, project management, or a similar role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and sales teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills to convey results, challenges, recommendations, and solutions to various organizational levels.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of Global Business Markets services, products, and sales culture.
  • Understanding of the objectives, strategies, and structure of the Small Business, Commercial, and Corporate Bank.
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies, processes, and best practices.
  • 3+ years of experience in stakeholder and vendor management, with relevant experience in the merchant services and/or payment industry.

Work Arrangement: Standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may occur. Moderate domestic travel may be required.
