Are you passionate about enhancing the safety of children globally? The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is a national charitable organization committed to ensuring the personal safety of all children. We operate Canada's national tipline dedicated to reporting the online sexual exploitation of children and are currently seeking a diligent and responsible individual to fulfill the role of a full-time Child Safety Research Specialist .

In this role, you will be responsible for receiving and addressing reports from the public, both online and via telephone, concerning online sexual exploitation. As a Child Safety Research Specialist, your duties will include reviewing, prioritizing, and conducting thorough Internet-based research on the reports and tips submitted. Following a comprehensive analysis, you will forward any reports involving potentially illegal incidents to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and/or child welfare services when a child is in need of protection.

Furthermore, specialists play a crucial role in diminishing the global presence of child sexual abuse material on the Internet through their involvement in Project Arachnid. The evaluations conducted by specialists directly contribute to the removal of this harmful content.

Specialists are also tasked with responding to public inquiries for educational materials and resources aimed at helping Canadians safeguard themselves and their families while navigating the Internet.

Key Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field (such as social work, criminology, criminal justice, or another social science)
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience (familiarity with criminal justice and child welfare systems is advantageous)
  • Proficient computer skills, including a solid understanding of file sharing, newsgroups, IRC, web-based chat, email, and the World Wide Web
  • Familiarity with Internet tools such as search engines, DNS lookups, WHOIS, and Trace routes
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive topics appropriately
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Internet, social media, and mobile applications
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent telephone communication skills
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset
