About This Position

The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is a national charitable organization dedicated to the personal safety of all children. We operate a national tipline to report the online sexual exploitation of children and are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time Child Protection Analyst.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and prioritize online reports and tips submitted by the public regarding online sexual exploitation.
  • Conduct Internet-based research to identify and analyze potential incidents.
  • Forward reports involving potentially illegal incidents to police in the appropriate jurisdiction and/or to child welfare agencies where a child is in need of protection.
  • Contribute to the reduction of global availability of child sexual abuse material on the Internet through work in Project Arachnid.
  • Respond to requests from the public for educational information and resources to help Canadians stay safe online.
Requirements
  • Possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field (social work, criminology, justice, or another social science).
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience (familiarity with criminal justice and child welfare systems is an asset).
  • Strong computer skills, including file sharing, newsgroups, IRC, web-based chat, email, and the World-Wide Web.
  • Familiarity with Internet tools such as search engines, DNS lookups, WHOIS, and Trace routes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work with sensitive subject matter.
  • Knowledge of the Internet, social media, and mobile apps.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong telephone skills.
  • French is considered an asset.
