Job Summary

The Children's Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bilingual Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Family Support Program, you will play a vital role in providing intensive and customized services to families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Family Support and Visitation
    • Assess the strengths and challenges of families in relation to parenting skills and develop personalized plans to meet their needs.
    • Coordinate and facilitate visits between children and their family members to promote positive relationships and enhance parenting skills.
    • Provide practical assistance and advocacy to families to prevent child maltreatment and promote family well-being.
  • Case Management and Coordination
    • Work collaboratively with families, community service providers, and stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive case plans.
    • Coordinate access to community resources and services to support family needs.
    • Ensure timely and effective communication with families, service providers, and stakeholders regarding case progress and updates.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of family interactions, case plans, and service delivery.
    • Prepare and submit reports to management and stakeholders as required.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration
    • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge in family support and case management.
    • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to share best practices and improve service delivery.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Diploma or degree in a related field, such as social work or child and youth care.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working with families and children in a related field.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Advanced verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and Ministry standards.
    • Good understanding of the agency's values, service philosophy, and objectives.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of intersectionality, cultural competency, and clinical practice within an anti-oppression framework.
    • Clinical knowledge of child maltreatment, child development, attachment, and separation.
    • Demonstrated clinical counseling skills to provide assessment, engagement, and support services to families and children.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Strong problem-solving, planning, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
