About the Role

Cosmic Growers Inc is seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team in farming operations. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for cultivating crops on our vertical farming system, ensuring the highest quality produce is harvested and prepared for market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and Irrigate Crops: Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops to ensure optimal growth and yield.
  • Harvest and Prepare Produce: Harvest crops, grade vegetables and fruits, and pack them for market.
  • Greenhouse Maintenance: Clean and maintain the greenhouse environment to ensure a healthy and productive growing space.
  • Load and Unload Supplies: Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce, livestock, and poultry.
  • Quality Control: Examine product for quality and readiness for market.
Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work independently, handle heavy loads, and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
  • Tools and Equipment: Use of gloves and steel-toed safety boots.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in farming or a related field.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Immediate Settlement Needs: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, including housing, transportation, storage, childcare, and winter clothing.
  • Social and Labour Market Integration: Support social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
Support for Youths
  • On-the-Job Training: Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth.
Work Environment
  • Work Setting: Remote location.
  • Work Site Environment: Fruit and vegetable combination farming.
Language and Work Hours
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 30 hours per week.
