About the Role

Cosmic Growers Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our farm, ensuring the highest quality crops are produced while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and Maintain Crop Quality
    • Develop and implement crop management plans to ensure optimal growth and yield
    • Monitor and control pests, diseases, and weeds to prevent damage to crops
  • Supervise Farm Staff
    • Recruit, train, and manage a team of farm workers and harvesting laborers
    • Coordinate and supervise daily farm activities, including crop maintenance, harvesting, and equipment operation
  • Manage Farm Operations
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment and infrastructure
    • Develop and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Manage Financial and Production Records
    • Track and analyze financial and production data to inform business decisions
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Negotiate with Clients
    • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients to ensure mutually beneficial terms
  • Co-ordinate and Supervise
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of farm staff, including farm workers and harvesting laborers
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and productivity
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
    • Work in a physically demanding environment, with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions
    • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, and to work at heights
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees
    • Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, including housing, transportation, and storage
    • Support social and labor market integration of newcomers and/or refugees, including language training and skills training
  • Support for Youths
    • Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth, to develop their skills and knowledge
    • Provide opportunities for youth to gain work experience and develop their employability skills
    Requirements
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
    • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in farm operations or a related field
    • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions
    • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, and to work at heights
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed business decisions
