Position Overview

Thompson Bus & Freight Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Bus Operations Driver to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring safe and efficient transportation for our passengers.

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate various types of buses, including school buses and streetcars, to transport passengers.
  • Provide essential information to passengers regarding fares, schedules, and stops.
  • Collect fares and accurately record all transactions.
  • Report any delays, mechanical issues, or accidents promptly.
  • Assist in loading and unloading passengers from the vehicle.
  • Direct passengers during emergency evacuation procedures to ensure safety.
  • Ensure the safe boarding of para-transit passengers.
  • Engage effectively with the public and handle inquiries.
  • Complete necessary logbooks and reports as required.
  • Manage interactions with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Communicate with passengers, dispatchers, or other drivers using two-way radio systems.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, overseeing all operational aspects.
Required Certifications
  • Class 2/2F/C Licence (for buses with more than passengers)
Experience Type
  • Intercity bus driving experience is preferred.
Transportation Information
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence.
Work Environment
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Hand-eye coordination is necessary for safe operation.
  • This position involves sitting for extended periods.
