The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role within our Infrastructure division, reporting directly to the Estimate Manager. This position is tasked with overseeing all facets of the estimation process, particularly for complex and detailed tenders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze proposal specifications and drawings, and participate in pre-bid meetings to ascertain the scope of work and necessary estimate components.
- Deliver comprehensive conceptual and final estimating input for intricate projects.
- Provide technical assistance to team members in preparing discipline-specific estimates for assigned bids.
- Ensure that all working documents and data are systematically maintained to support estimate figures.
- Monitor awarded contracts as necessary, including estimating and pricing additional work items, change orders, and material procurement.
- Supervise and coordinate estimating support staff on larger projects.
- Assist in the organization, coordination, and training of estimating personnel.
- Advise the Estimate Manager on cost and schedule variations, material improvements, or other construction-related factors.
- Investigate Value Engineering opportunities for applicable projects.
- Review market labor and equipment rates and provide recommendations.
- Conduct post-bid analyses on jobs that were bid but not awarded.
- Track bidding success rates and analyze fiscal period bid performance.
- Evaluate fee structures and adjust based on market conditions and past experiences.
- May assist the Estimate Manager in coordinating overall corporate estimating functions, including system development and staff training.
- Degree in Engineering, certification, or a combination of technical training and experience.
- 10-15 years of estimating experience within the construction sector.
- Experience with a large General Contractor is essential.
- Proficiency in estimating Water/Wastewater projects and contracts is required.
- Strong background in concrete work related to Water/Wastewater.
- Familiarity with InEight and Hard Dollar software is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior supervisory experience is mandatory.
