Data Governance Strategist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at Manitoba Public Insurance. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective control and use of our data assets.
Key Responsibilities- Develop Data Governance Strategies: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address data governance needs and issues, developing proposals outlining strategies to address these challenges.
- Provide Oversight and Guidance: Work closely with the Manager, Business Analytics, to provide oversight and guidance on data governance initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Protect Enterprise Data Assets: Develop and implement controls to ensure the availability, quality, usability, integrity, consistency, auditability, and security of our data assets.
- Establish Metadata Capabilities: Collaborate with operational managers and the corporate data and analytics functions to establish corporate-wide metadata capabilities, including the development of the data dictionary and business data glossary.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization's ability to respond efficiently and consistently to regulatory requirements related to data.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes to enhance data governance processes and practices.
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Four (4) years of progressive experience in data analysis, with at least one (1) year in data policy and/or governance.
- Skills: Working knowledge of managing and augmenting business data glossaries and data dictionaries, as well as proven political acumen and commitment to confidentiality.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
