Position Overview

In alignment with the organization's core values and strategic goals, the Health Support Specialist, as part of a collaborative healthcare team and under the guidance of the Team Lead or designated clinical supervisor, delivers home care services to clients based on a predefined care strategy. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal planning, and preparation, all while fostering independence. The role also involves performing assigned tasks for which appropriate training has been completed. A vital aspect of this position is to ensure the health and well-being of individuals and families, promoting self-sufficiency within the community.

Work Schedule: Evening and Night Shifts, 13:30 to 22:08, 22:00 to 08:00 (Rotating)

Qualifications

  • Registration with the BC Care Aid & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Food Safety.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Physical capability to perform the responsibilities of the role.
  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Ability to observe and identify changes in clients' conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with clients, families, and the care team.
