Financial Reporting Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver extensive assistance to the Controller by contributing to financial reporting and crafting in-depth financial analyses and summaries to support strategic decision-making. Aid in the creation of precise financial statements, ledgers, and accounts, including conducting thorough reviews and implementing corrections to ensure the accuracy of financial records. Facilitate the closing process for monthly and annual financial periods by scrutinizing and reconciling general ledgers, and offering detailed analyses for departmental and organizational stakeholders. Compile supporting documentation for the annual audit and act as the primary contact for external auditors and related inquiries. Supervise Junior Accountant in bank reconciliations and other finance-related administrative duties. Generate and evaluate regular and ad hoc financial reports to assist management in decision-making. Advise department leaders on interpreting job cost reports and financial outcomes. Maintain and refresh records for fixed assets inventory, including monitoring acquisitions, disposals, and amortization. Calculate HST liabilities and prepare HST returns in accordance with payment and reporting obligations. Offer technical assistance to ERP users as required. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance position. Background in the construction industry or similar fields with a solid grasp of job cost accounting preferred. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the application of formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling. Knowledge of HST regulations and reporting requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex financial data and produce actionable insights. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
