Position Overview: The Financial Reporting Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the financial reporting team by providing analytical insights into various financial reports and operational metrics.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Manager of Financial Reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of the Management's Discussion and Analysis and Financial Statements on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Information Form and Management Information Circular on an annual basis.
  • Research new and revised IFRS accounting standards and evaluate their implications on financial statements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to fulfill their requirements for quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
  • Support the creation of internal and external reporting packages for various stakeholders.
  • Document and prepare CAPREIT's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for review and approval.
  • Assist with data requests from other teams and departments as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and assist in their implementation.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing the CPA designation (CAPREIT is an approved training office).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Experience in financial analysis and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, multitask, and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in teamwork and collaboration.
  • Dedicated to maintaining high-quality work and attention to detail.
  • Excellent proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the real estate sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus.

  • Hybrid work model.
