Island Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting individuals with mental health challenges as they navigate their recovery journey.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will utilize your expertise to empower clients by teaching essential life skills and fostering their independence. Your commitment to client-centered care will be evident in every interaction, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for growth and healing.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to clients with mental health disorders, assisting them in developing and achieving personal goals.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops focused on enhancing coping mechanisms, social skills, and daily living abilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for each client.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records, adhering to established protocols and confidentiality standards.
  • Promote a safe and therapeutic environment that respects the dignity and rights of all individuals.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by post-secondary education in mental health or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of recent experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CPR and Food Safe certification.
  • A valid BC Driver's License; the ability to obtain a Class 4 Driver's License may be required.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health Act and its implications for clients and staff.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
