Job Overview
Arcadis Building Structural Group is engaged in a variety of projects, including architectural structures and transit systems across western Canada. We are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer (SE designation preferred in BC) to contribute to our innovative projects. Your role will involve structural design for various infrastructures, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and underground transit stations.
This position is part of our global business area, Places, where we collaborate with clients worldwide to develop, support, and enhance sustainable environments that foster community well-being. The work we do impacts the quality of life for individuals and communities, encompassing residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare facilities, as well as manufacturing and distribution centers. As a member of our Design and Engineering teams, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most significant and innovative structures that redefine our surroundings, improving accessibility and creating vibrant public spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the structural design team to ensure successful project outcomes. Coordinate structural design efforts with other engineering disciplines. Collaborate effectively with clients and external stakeholders. Conduct structural modeling, analysis, and design tasks. Prepare and review detailed structural reports and drawings. Evaluate construction submittals for compliance. Identify structural deficiencies and propose remedial solutions. Assess constructability, staging drawings, construction schedules, and cost estimates. Work closely with the construction team to determine optimal solutions. Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders as necessary. Address engineering and commercial issues in collaboration with the construction team.Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a University Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Professional Registration with EGBC as a P.Eng; SE designation is preferred. Over 6 years of experience in structural design, particularly in buildings and underground structures. Experience with complex building and underground projects is essential. Previous involvement in rapid transit projects (subway, LRT) is a valuable asset. In-depth knowledge of building codes and standards. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to produce reports and correspondence independently. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proficient in structural analysis software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Acrobat/Bluebeam. Willingness to work in both design environments and on-site, with the ability to travel to project locations.Additional Information
