Job Summary

We are seeking a licensed Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Canada. As a key member of our Building Structural Group, you will be responsible for leading structural design teams to achieve project successful delivery. You will coordinate structural design and construction with other disciplines, collaborate with external stakeholders and clients, and carry out structural modeling, analysis, and design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design teams to achieve project successful delivery.
  • Coordinate structural design and construction with other disciplines.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders and clients.
  • Carry out structural modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Prepare and review structural reports and drawings.
  • Review construction submittals.
  • Identify structural deficiencies and provide remedial options.
  • Review constructability, staging drawings, construction schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Work with construction teams to discuss best solutions.
  • Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders as needed.
  • Coordinate engineering and commercial issues with the construction team.

Requirements

  • Minimum University Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Registration with EGBC as a P.Eng, SE designation is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in structural design projects, including buildings and underground structures.
  • Design experience with complex building and underground projects.
  • Past experience working on underground and/or surface rapid transit projects (subway, LRT) is a definite asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of building codes and standards.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong design and construction support coordination skills.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Acrobat/Bluebeam (redlines/comments).
  • Ability to work in a design environment and on-site, with travel to project sites.
