The Technical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing expertise and guidance on fire alarm systems. This position is essential for ensuring that our field service technicians are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage fire alarm applications.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive technical support for all fire alarm products to field service technicians.
- Offer on-site technical assistance as required, ensuring effective project execution.
- Assist in evaluating programs for the assembly, installation, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic control system components.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant codes, standards, and technological advancements.
- Identify and report any recurring product defects to management.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards during project assembly.
- Facilitate communication among team members and field service technicians to adhere to project timelines.
- Travel to project sites to provide on-site technical expertise and support.
- Support the sales team with technical insights for project quotations and product applications.
- Conduct training sessions on new product releases for service teams.
- Provide assistance in programming, testing, and troubleshooting of products to enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare detailed project information for the head office's technical teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Graduation from a recognized Electrical/Electronic Technician Program or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the fire alarm or electronics industry.
- Familiarity with industry regulatory documents, including ULC, NFC, and NBC.
- Strong knowledge of various fire alarm panels and associated field devices.
- Proficient in using PCs for programming and documentation purposes.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and text editing software.
- Ability to learn manufacturer-specific configuration software through training.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized with the capacity to work effectively under pressure.
- Adaptability to dynamic work environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
