The Role

We are currently in search of a Fixed Equipment Planner to become a part of our Maintenance Planning and Control Team. This position is permanent and operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with 8-hour shifts during the day.

As a Fixed Equipment Planner, your role will be pivotal in enhancing the performance of the Fixed Equipment Maintenance team through the efficient application of established processes and protocols. Your expertise will be essential in planning work for the Fixed Maintenance Department and may include providing supervisory relief as necessary.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  1. Adhering to maintenance business processes as defined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.
  2. Executing the planning phase for all work orders, including systematic and non-systematic maintenance, shutdowns, and external resource-related tasks.
  3. Managing the backlog to ensure work orders are prioritized based on safety, urgency, and required completion dates.
  4. Coordinating with the Scheduler to ensure all planning and scheduling routines are effectively followed.
  5. Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and actively working towards achieving plant targets.
  6. Identifying and escalating critical issues that may hinder the successful execution of the work schedule.
  7. Building and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders, including superintendents, supervisors, other planners, schedulers, and crew members.
  8. Providing supervisory relief as needed, which involves ensuring the crew adheres to safety protocols, maintains a clean work environment, and fosters teamwork and professionalism.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalency is required.
  • A College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant industrial field or an engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A valid Heavy Equipment trade certificate for Ontario is advantageous.
  • Generic Supervisor Common Core certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience using SAP and the Prometheus add-on in a Planner or Scheduler capacity.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role overseeing crews.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a trade-related field.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • A commitment to safety and risk management is crucial.
  • Ability to maintain open and transparent communication in all work-related matters.
