We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Mortgage Analyst to join our team at Canada ICI Capital Corporation. As a key member of our mortgage origination team, you will play a critical role in analyzing commercial mortgage investments and providing high-quality market analysis and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with our mortgage professionals to analyze commercial mortgage investments and evaluate their quality through financial statement analysis, market data, and third-party reports.
- Prepare proformas, cash flow models, and project-specific underwriting to support mortgage investment decisions.
- Obtain and share market data with the origination group, including market reports, CMHC data, and cost consultant reports.
- Maintain a database of market data and share it with the origination group to support informed investment decisions.
- Review and summarize third-party reports, including appraisals, BCA's, and environmental reports.
- Organize and manage project-related documentation, information, and folders to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist the mortgage origination team in structuring mortgage opportunities based on the investment criteria of over 100 sources of mortgage capital available to Canada ICI.
- Prepare institutional-quality mortgage investment brochures and commitment letters for review by the mortgage origination team, lenders, and solicitors.
- Work with the mortgage origination team to manage and coordinate the funding process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Establish relationships with third-party report providers, including appraisers, engineers, and cost consultants.
- Bachelor of Commerce degree (major in finance, economics, or math) or MBA.
- 1 year of experience in the commercial real estate industry is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of basic finance modeling, including rates of return, IRR, NPV, and cash flow modeling.
- Applicable provincial mortgage license is considered an asset, or willingness to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment.
- Excellent financial analysis research and underwriting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Clear understanding of cash flow statements, preparation, and analysis.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Expert-level knowledge of Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, charting, and other advanced features.
- Past teamwork and team player focus and experience required.
- Knowledge of the real estate or finance industry is an asset.
- Adobe InDesign software experience is valuable but not necessary.
