About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our High Acuity Unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute medical unit.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, collecting information from various sources, and make informed nursing diagnoses to determine the best course of care.
  2. Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting patient autonomy and dignity.
  3. Participate in the care and discharge planning process, ensuring seamless transitions and effective communication with the interprofessional care team.
  4. Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, ensuring efficient and high-quality patient care.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare professionals, using verbal, written, and electronic means to promote person-centered care.
  6. Teach patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, empowering them to take an active role in their healthcare.
  7. Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of applicable post-graduate coursework or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, promote person-centered care, and integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively.
  • Ability to teach and instruct patients and families/caregivers about topics essential to their health care and well-being.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with the interprofessional care team, and use factual information to support nursing decisions and actions.
