Combined Laboratory & X-Ray Technologist (CLXT), Multi Functional Lab Core Lab

Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily operational tasks across both laboratory and radiology departments as necessary.
- Laboratory Duties:
- Engage in hematology, coagulation, and chemistry processes.
- Conduct routine quality control measures as required.
- Analyze patient samples and generate reports.
- Manage the receipt of blood components and products.
- Allocate and distribute uncrossmatched red cells, albumin, RHIG, IVIG, plasma, and crossmatched red cells.
- Handle the transportation of blood components and products.
- Oversee the quarantine and disposal of blood products.
- Facilitate the pooling and reconstitution of purified plasma products (e.g., PCC, fibrinogen).
- Conduct general x-ray examinations within the department and on patient floors.
- Prepare imaging films for medical professionals by retrieving relevant prior films and completing necessary documentation.
- Maintain the film archive.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduation from an accredited Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology Program.
- Eligibility for registration with a provincial licensing authority.
- Completion of the NAIT TRAM 101 Course, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience or equivalent educational background in transfusion medicine.
Competencies
- Proven working knowledge of laboratory operations.
- Familiarity with laboratory protocols and technical skills necessary for conducting tests in designated sections, including quality control and safety standards.
- Basic understanding of research methodologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with team members.
- Capability to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Basic knowledge of various healthcare disciplines and their roles in patient care.
- Proficiency in operating relevant equipment and software.
- Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding Indigenous rights as per established frameworks.
