Key Responsibilities:
As a Fresh Produce Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our Co-op delivers exceptional service, making every guest feel welcomed and valued through:
- Cultivating, cleaning, and packaging high-quality produce. Engage in daily operational tasks on the farm, including sowing, transplanting, and maintaining cleanliness and upkeep. Transport produce as needed.
- Contributing to strategies aimed at enhancing produce sales and participating in marketing initiatives, such as promoting healthy eating habits through in-store sampling events.
- As you gain proficiency with our technology, you may assist in identifying or resolving issues that may arise, whether mechanical or horticultural.
- Keeping accurate records, including markdown reports and documentation of growing and harvesting activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
You are eager to enhance your skills by exploring new technologies and food production methods. Additionally, you:
- Have experience in growing vegetables or other plants, even in a home setting.
- Are comfortable using technology, including Google and Microsoft Office suites, as well as iPads and Windows computers.
- Can work independently without direct supervision.
- Exhibit a strong enthusiasm and commitment to continuous learning.
- Are mechanically inclined and enjoy working with tools and technology.
- Are self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Possess a certificate or degree in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field, which is an asset.
- Are available to work various shifts, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
- Maintain good physical fitness, capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's license and are committed to maintaining it throughout your employment.
Note:
Experience in hydroponic or commercial farming is not required for this position. We offer on-the-job training and formal opportunities to develop your skills and understand hydroponic food production. We seek candidates who are motivated, hardworking, and eager to learn quickly. A passion for food and a green thumb are certainly advantageous.
