About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Crop Specialist to join our team at Grain Millers Yorkton. As a key member of our Procurement division, you will play a critical role in managing our field-to-customer business of assigned conventional and organic grain(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with grain producers, providing agronomic advice and solutions to support their business needs.
  • Monitor production and program compliance, ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
  • Travel extensively (up to 50% of the month) to visit farmers and suppliers, providing expert guidance and support to ensure the success of our grain procurement programs.
  • Represent Grain Millers professionally at trade shows, meetings, and events, engaging in public speaking, giving presentations, and coordinating logistics as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with current and new agronomic and crop production practices, providing expert knowledge and advice to our team and suppliers.
  • Identify, maintain, and grow our supplier base, fostering strong relationships and ensuring a stable supply of high-quality grains.
  • Understand and promote sustainable agriculture production practices, educating growers on implementation and ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest standards of environmental responsibility.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related field.
  • Previous experience or internships in a related field will be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of agronomy and crop sciences, with the ability to provide expert advice and guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on organization, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Ability to work in a grain processing environment, with exposure to allergens such as grain, dust, and chemicals.
  • Flexibility to travel inside and outside Canada, with occasional overnight stays.
