Position Overview

IMAX is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to enhance our expanding Corporate Finance division. This role will report directly to the Manager of Corporate Accounting and will be responsible for various elements of IMAX's corporate accounting, including the month-end close and financial reporting processes. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Finance team members and other stakeholders to ensure timely and precise financial outcomes related to IMAX's primary revenue sources and operational functions. Utilizing your expertise, you will implement suitable accounting practices and internal controls, providing analytical support to senior leadership for performance evaluation and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a high-quality month-end closing process by delivering timely, accurate, and insightful financial information for IMAX Corporation, along with any ad hoc analyses requested by management.
  • Analyze and compile month-end financial results, including the preparation of monthly journal entries for various revenue streams and expense categories.
  • Prepare and document monthly accounting entries for the Company's global operations.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, ensuring proper documentation and audit trails are maintained.
  • Generate quarterly supporting schedules and note disclosures for the Financial Reporting Team in preparation for 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings, including MD&A.
  • Prepare quarter-end and year-end working papers for both internal and external auditors in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Professional designation in CPA, CA, or significant progress towards completion.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Financial Analyst or Corporate Accounting role, ideally within a public company setting with exposure to multinational operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with SAP is preferred.

  • Knowledge of US GAAP is advantageous.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new business processes in a dynamic industry.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, efficient, and focused on process improvement.
  • Ability to maintain focus and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
