Position Overview: Payroll and Benefits Administrator

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting payroll operations and employee benefits management. This position serves as the primary contact for employees regarding timekeeping, attendance, and payroll matters, ensuring the smooth operation of payroll functions and group benefits programs, which encompass health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the entry, maintenance, and processing of payroll information, including employee compensation, time worked, and deductions.
  2. Prepare weekly and semi-monthly payroll for approval.
  3. Oversee the maintenance of employee benefits records and ensure accurate payroll documentation.
  4. Monitor employee leaves of absence related to benefits.
  5. Present payroll and benefits information during new hire orientations.
  6. Collaborate with the HR team to address inquiries and resolve issues.
  7. Maintain positive relationships with benefits vendors.
  8. Participate in meetings to ensure the successful execution of tasks.
  9. Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws and regulations.
  10. Engage in special projects, including HRIS implementation and open enrollment.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience in managing complex multi-state payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
  2. Proficiency in payroll software or the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
  3. Capability to handle multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
  4. Experience with Workday and ADP is essential.
  5. Strong analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of benefits plan designs.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  8. Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
  9. Adept at working in a dynamic startup environment with opportunities for continuous learning.
  10. Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, accounting, or a related field.
  11. A minimum of one year of relevant payroll and benefits experience, particularly with non-exempt hourly employees; payroll certification is preferred.
