Position Overview: Payroll and Benefits Administrator

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting payroll operations and is often the initial point of contact for employees regarding time, attendance, and payroll inquiries. This position is responsible for the daily management of payroll functions and employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, travel plans, health savings accounts, and retirement plans. Exceptional customer service is essential, along with the ability to monitor and maintain payroll and benefits processes effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Input, maintain, and process payroll information, including employee compensation, time worked, paid leave, deductions, and other relevant data.
  2. Review payroll data on a weekly and semi-monthly basis to prepare for approval.
  3. Manage employee benefits files, ensuring accurate maintenance of group benefits information and payroll records.
  4. Track and oversee employee leaves of absence related to benefits.
  5. Present payroll and benefits information during new hire orientations.
  6. Collaborate with the HR team to address requests, inquiries, and concerns.
  7. Maintain positive relationships with benefits vendors.
  8. Participate in meetings as necessary to ensure the successful completion of tasks.
  9. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  10. Engage in special projects, including new HRIS implementation and open enrollment.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience managing complex multi-state payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
  2. Proficiency in payroll software or the ability to learn quickly.
  3. Capability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  4. Experience with Workday and ADP is required.
  5. Strong analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of benefits plan designs.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  8. Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  9. Able to thrive in a startup environment with continuous learning opportunities.
  10. Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, accounting, or a related field.
  11. At least one year of relevant payroll and benefits experience, particularly with non-exempt hourly employees; payroll certification is preferred.
