Position Summary

In this role, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, contributing to the success of Wawanesa Insurance by guiding the Life Services team in achieving their objectives of delivering an outstanding and uniform experience for both customers and brokers. This position entails managing the daily functions of the Life Services team, with a strong emphasis on meeting essential business targets and maintaining customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the team to foster a work environment that is respectful, stimulating, and rewarding, ensuring that team members reach their full potential while aiding in the accomplishment of Wawanesa's objectives.
  • Assist in the formulation and enhancement of Wawanesa's policies and practices by refining internal processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Organize and supervise daily operations, ensuring service levels are met and workflow is effectively monitored.
  • Resolve escalated service issues and complaints, providing constructive solutions, feedback, and support.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of the Life Services team's output and documentation; guide the team towards continuous improvement by tracking and analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Create standard templates, review, and enhance administrative tasks and processes to ensure uniformity and efficiency, while minimizing backlog where feasible.
  • Contribute to the Life Services department by assessing, planning, and implementing new products and initiatives.
  • Engage in strategic projects and be open to both employee resistance and acceptance, fostering genuine understanding and commitment.
  • Stay informed about industry, regulatory, and company developments or trends relevant to the insurance sector.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Life Insurance in progressively responsible roles, with at least three years in a senior position.
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma is advantageous.
  • Actively pursuing or having completed the ACS and/or ALMI designation is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in French is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite are essential.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and engage high-performing teams while navigating change.
  • Ability to achieve group objectives through a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to identify pertinent information and potential impacts.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to assess and review potential consequences.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey information appropriately for the intended audience.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and concern for our clients.
