Compensation: At Wawanesa, we recognize that salary is just one aspect of a comprehensive and competitive benefits package we offer our employees. The compensation for this position is influenced by various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labor market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity, and the knowledge, skills, experience, and expected proficiency in the role. The estimated salary range for this position is between $72,000 and $85,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside this range are still encouraged to apply.

In this role, you will work with minimal supervision, supporting Wawanesa's success by leading the Life Services team to achieve their objectives of delivering an exceptional and consistent experience for customers and brokers. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Life Services team, with a focus on meeting key business goals and customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the team to ensure a respectful, challenging, and rewarding work environment, maximizing employee potential while contributing to Wawanesa's objectives.
  • Support the development and enhancement of Wawanesa's policies and practices by improving internal processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily operations, managing service levels and monitoring workflow.
  • Address escalated service complaints, providing solutions, feedback, and support.
  • Conduct regular audits of the Life Services team's work and files; guide the team towards continuous improvement by tracking and analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop standard templates, review, and enhance administrative tasks and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency, while reducing backlog where possible.
  • Contribute to the Life Services department by reviewing, planning, and implementing new products and programs.
  • Engage in strategic initiatives, being receptive to both employee resistance and acceptance to foster genuine understanding and commitment.
  • Stay informed about industry, regulatory, and company changes or trends relevant to the insurance sector.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Life Insurance in progressive roles, with at least three years in a senior capacity.
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma is an asset.
  • Active pursuit or completion of the ACS and/or ALMI designation is required.
  • Ability to read and write in French is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite are required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage high-performing teams while managing change.
  • Ability to meet group objectives through a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Strong attention to detail with the capacity to identify relevant information and potential impacts.
  • Effective decision-making skills, with the ability to assess and review potential impacts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of addressing the appropriate audience level.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and concern for our customers.
