Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team at Simcoe County. As a valued member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, in accordance with established standards and nursing principles.
  2. Assist residents with daily activities, such as transferring, walking, and mobility, to promote their independence and well-being.
  3. Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to registered staff, ensuring timely interventions and care planning.
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans, working collaboratively with the care team to ensure resident-centered care.
  5. Participate in resident high-risk rounds and care conferences, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance resident safety and well-being.
  6. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and colleagues, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
  7. Adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Personal Support Worker Certification program, as per the Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations.
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, less than six months old at time of hire.
  • Documented results of TB testing, as per Public Health requirements.
  • Previous experience working with seniors or in a long-term care facility, an asset.

Working Conditions

This position is located in a long-term care facility, with exposure to illnesses and germs possible on a daily basis. A flexible work schedule, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, is required.

Compensation

As per the collective agreement or non-union job band.
