POSITION SUMMARY

This role contributes to Prairie Mountain Health's mission and values by performing essential technical tasks related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, functional testing, record keeping, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies across various healthcare settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under strict adherence to infection control principles, decontamination protocols, sterilization techniques, and established safety standards, you will receive, sort, disassemble, clean, decontaminate, sterilize, assemble, wrap, and reassemble medical devices, trays, carts, supplies, and equipment used in operating rooms and other healthcare areas.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on medical devices, equipment, and supplies. Identify damaged or malfunctioning items and initiate repair processes by reporting issues, recording details, and following up on repairs.
  • Operate sterilizing equipment, monitor its performance, and conduct standard quality assurance tests to ensure the effectiveness of the sterilization process according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Manage the storage and rotation of sterilized items effectively.
  • Maintain optimal levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies across various healthcare settings by performing inventory counts, requisitioning supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or issues, and maintaining meticulous records on processed and requisitioned medical devices, supplies, and equipment.
  • Fulfill urgent and routine requests for medical devices, supplies, and equipment from different patient care areas as assigned.
  • Utilize computerized systems to print pick lists, select and distribute medical device sets, equipment, and supplies for various procedures and patient care areas.
  • Replenish procedure and specialty supply carts for diverse patient care areas on a scheduled basis, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by performing routine cleaning and sanitation of workstations, storage areas, processing machines, and equipment.
  • Perform clerical duties such as record keeping, answering telephones, and retrieving information from computer systems.
  • Contribute to the training and orientation of new staff members and students.
  • Conduct environmental safety monitoring activities and document findings accurately.
  • Participate in the evaluation and trial of new medical devices, equipment, and supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
