Position Overview

The role of the Electrician involves the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical systems and their associated electronic controls. This position is primarily responsible for interpreting technical drawings and adhering to electrical code specifications while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of electrical systems to verify compliance with relevant standards.
  • Interpret and analyze drawings, blueprints, and schematics to plan the layout of electrical installations.
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, and other components as necessary.
  • Commission and initiate new electrical equipment.
  • Test electrical and electronic components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Document and log changes made to electrical systems.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and procure materials efficiently.
  • Assess power requirements for new installations and ensure compliance with electrical codes.
  • Facilitate connections to CNC machinery.
  • Collaborate with plant services and external contractors as needed.
  • Provide training and oversight to electrical staff to ensure adherence to standards.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a technical training program and apprenticeship.
  • Possession of a valid electrician's license (309A or 442A).
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience, including automation troubleshooting and familiarity with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address equipment malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems, network cabling, security, and surveillance systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with servomotors and controllers.
