SickKids Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced corporate and commercial lawyer to join our team as a Director, Legal. As a key member of our leadership team, you will provide strategic legal advice and support to our Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer.
About the Role:The successful candidate will have a strong background in corporate and commercial law, with experience in drafting and negotiating agreements, supporting risk management initiatives, ensuring privacy compliance, responding to intellectual property inquiries, providing employment law advice, and assisting with policy development.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide General Legal Advice: Offer expert legal guidance to all levels of the Foundation, ensuring that our operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
- Support Risk Management Initiatives: Collaborate with the Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Foundation.
- Ensure Privacy Compliance: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the protection of sensitive information and maintain the confidentiality of our donors and stakeholders.
- Respond to Intellectual Property Inquiries: Provide expert advice on intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Provide Employment Law Advice: Offer guidance on employment-related matters, including contracts, terminations, and workplace policies.
- Assist with Policy Development: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement policies that support the Foundation's mission and goals.
Requirements:
- Strong background in corporate and commercial law
- Experience in drafting and negotiating agreements
- Proven track record of supporting risk management initiatives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
