Position Overview

Avison Young is on the lookout for a seasoned attorney to enhance its legal team. The selected candidate will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel, focusing on North American Litigation & Employment. The role will involve collaboration with various attorneys and business professionals on a project-by-project basis. Our legal department comprises a team of experienced attorneys across multiple regions, providing essential support to our business functions globally.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be a commercial and transactional attorney with extensive experience in representing clients in both domestic and international transactions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising senior executives and local office management on M&A growth opportunities and commercial transactions.
  • Managing relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Providing additional legal services as directed by the Chief Legal Officer, tailored to the candidate's expertise.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years of relevant legal experience.
  • Proficiency in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Experience in managing and resolving commercial disputes and litigation.
  • In-house experience or relevant industry exposure.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment while adhering to deadlines.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong legal and business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting capabilities.
  • A willingness to learn and embrace new challenges.
