Operations Supervisor - Morning Shift
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing all operational aspects during the designated shift. This role is crucial in driving health and safety standards, enhancing operational efficiency, nurturing customer relationships, and fostering employee development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize labor requirements for the shift to achieve production targets while adhering to budget constraints.
- Conduct shift briefings to ensure all team members are informed of essential updates and information.
- Delegate tasks to operators and warehouse personnel, monitoring progress and communicating estimated completion times.
- Prioritize order picking based on shipment urgency and customer priority to minimize delays for drivers and prevent late deliveries.
- Ensure team members comply with proper picking and packing protocols, maintaining production quality that meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Track, analyze, and report on departmental performance metrics through effective KPI monitoring and data collection for the shift.
- Approve labor hours daily in accordance with company policies, ensuring accurate record-keeping for employee compensation and cost allocation.
- Provide ongoing feedback to employees through coaching and performance evaluations, addressing disciplinary matters promptly and with proper documentation.
- Engage with customers to build strong relationships while assessing service needs and communicating effectively.
- Uphold a clean and safe working environment.
- Fulfill supervisory duties in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, including safety and harassment policies.
- Take on additional responsibilities as necessary.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of five (5) years in distribution, with experience in third-party logistics (3PL) considered an asset.
- At least two (2) years in a supervisory role, ideally within a 3PL operations environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft software applications.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Strong attendance and punctuality record.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- A College Diploma in Business Management with a focus on Logistics Management is preferred, or equivalent experience.
