POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Global Banking Technology & Operations (GBTO) Canada division is dedicated to providing essential services to Société Générale's investment and corporate banking sectors, enhancing their operational transformation. The Operations Department oversees the middle and back-office functions for all business lines within Société Générale in Canada. This group is committed to ensuring the seamless execution of operational, administrative, and financial processes associated with market transactions initiated by the business lines. Additionally, the Operations Group guarantees that the controls surrounding transactional processes comply with existing financial regulations.

This role is situated within the Securities Department, contributing to a team responsible for the allocation, settlement, and reconciliation of equity and bond transactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate the settlement of fixed income, equity, and option products across US and global markets.
  • Conduct reconciliation of cash positions and stock records between custodians, clearing agents, banks, and internal systems.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of all suspense and control accounts.
  • Prepare KPI/KRI reports detailing root causes and resolutions.
  • Engage in continuous efforts to resolve discrepancies, including fails with counterparties.
  • Maintain flexibility to work between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
  • Occasional overtime and late shifts may be required.
  • Adhere to a US Holiday Calendar.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • Expertise in clearing and settlement tools and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Canadian regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with broker/dealer operations.
  • Experience in documenting front-to-back systems flows.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in business (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of trade flows and products related to fixed income, equities, and options.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Capability to advise and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Strong collaborative skills with counterparts, customers, other departments, and external vendors.
  • Thorough knowledge of processing both domestic and international settlements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in both French and English is essential, as effective communication with colleagues and partners in the United States is a key aspect of this role.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Due to the application of US Federal Securities law to this position, candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced background screening, which includes fingerprint collection by a third-party vendor selected by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
