The Operations Department oversees the middle and back-office functions for all business lines of Société Générale in Canada. The Operations Group is committed to ensuring the seamless operation of the operational, administrative, and financial processes associated with market transactions initiated by the business lines. Furthermore, the Operations Group guarantees that controls surrounding transactional processes adhere to established financial regulations.

This role is situated within the Securities Department and is part of a team dedicated to the allocation, settlement, and reconciliation of equity and bond transactions.

What will your DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES include?

  • Settling fixed income, equity, and option products in both Canadian and Global markets.
  • Reconciling cash positions and stock records between custodians, clearing agents, banks, and in-house systems.
  • Reconciling all suspense and control accounts.
  • Reporting on KPIs and KRIs with comprehensive details regarding root causes and resolutions.
  • Engaging in continuous efforts to resolve discrepancies, including fails with counterparts.
  • Flexibility to work between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM is essential.
  • Occasional overtime and late shifts may be required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proficiency in clearing and settlement tools and systems.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Canadian Regulatory / Compliance.
  • Knowledge of broker/dealer operations.
  • Familiarity with documenting front-to-back systems flows.

Competencies:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or a related field), or equivalent experience.
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of trade flows and products related to fixed income, equities, and options.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Capacity to advise and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Collaboration with counterparts, customers, other departments, and external vendors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of processing both domestic and international settlements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Language Proficiency: French, English

Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is a requirement as collaboration with colleagues and partners in the United States is frequent.

Due to applicable US Federal Securities law, candidates applying for this position will undergo an enhanced background screening, including fingerprint collection by a third-party vendor selected by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority ("FINRA").
