Reporting to the Manager of Major Gifts, the Development Officer is responsible for mid-level donor programs, including monthly donors and the employee giving program. This role also researches, develops, and writes grant proposals and implements the gaming and service clubs' portfolios with an emphasis on relationship building.

YOUR ROLE

- Develop and manage the growth of the mid-level donor portfolio with specific emphasis on the organization's monthly donors as well as the employee giving programs.
- Build and maintain key relationships by ensuring communications and engagement with a multi-channel focus on upgrading, renewing and acquiring mid-level donors.
- Design and implement a robust donor acquisition strategy in mid-level giving.
- Manage the gaming programs, including soliciting and supervising volunteers and other community partners while ensuring the growth of the gaming portfolio.
- Manage the service club's portfolio while building and maintaining relationships to understand their philanthropy goals and match them with current opportunities.
- Research, develop, and write compelling grant proposals to secure funding that supports organizational programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team for the implementation of awareness building events and social media campaigns.
- Promote the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with other agency staff, families, volunteers, advocates, and employers.
- Report all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and adhere to all Health and Safety requirements within DeafBlind Ontario Services' policies and procedures and provincial legislation.
- Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

- College diploma in communications, business administration, fundraising or related field.
- CFRE designation or working towards.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in fundraising roles or similar capacity in the not-for-profit sector.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas and concepts succinctly and with clarity.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities within established timelines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
- High proficiency with Donor Perfect or other similar fundraising software, as well as Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, etc.), and willingness to learn other software programs as required.
