**Term**:Temporary, Full-time - 35 Hours (September 2023 - November 2023)

**Reports to**:Director, Refugee 613

**About OCISO**

OCISO is a settlement organization that supports immigrants through the journey of making Canada their home by providing creative and responsive programs that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, by building community through mutual respect and partnerships, and by fostering healthy and inclusive spaces for open dialogue and healing. OCISO is the host agency for Refugee 613, providing legal, finance and administrative services and oversight.

**About Refugee 613**

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director of Refugee 613 and working alongside the two-person Community Outreach team, the Project Specialist will support a range of stakeholder convening, research and content
- development activities to improve the ability of local organizations to welcome refugee claimants. Strong
English language skills are required for this position, and additional language proficiencies are an asset.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Embed equity and inclusion principles in all activities
- Support the Community Outreach Coordinator in the development, implementation and monitoring of Refugee 613’s local outreach strategy and project plan, to maximize Ottawa’s capacity to mobilize and support Refugee Claimants
- Support the convening, logistics and follow-up for the Ottawa Refugee Claimant Working Group and other task forces, with activities including but not limited to: identify meeting themes, prepare meeting agendas and materials, note-taking, communicating meeting outcomes, providing personal follow-ups to action items, responding to stakeholder questions and requests, etc.
- Liaise with consultants and contractors delivering services to Refugee 613 and stakeholders
- Support Refugee 613 engagement in community research initiatives related to refugee welcome and integration by assisting with data gathering and outreach to experts
- Support local event planning activities, such as info sessions for service providers and other public education initiatives
- Demonstrate a commitment to OCISO’s culture of respect approach
- Other task and duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary or graduate degree in communications, social policy, or social services or related field, or equivalent professional experience in related field
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (mandatory)
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written (mandatory)
- At least one year of experience in stakeholder management and/or community outreach: you have managed professional relationships in person and online and take a customer service approach to making every partner feel valued
- Must be an agile, adaptable, fast learner: you take in and analyze information quickly
- Experience creating successful stakeholder meetings and initiatives: you know how to create agendas and take minutes, and you know that successful meetings require good planning and attention to detail.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and lived experience: you are a strong listener who knows that every person has the potential for unique and valuable insights.
- Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills: when you see a problem, you like to understand it first and then suggest solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with project management best practices
- Highly organized and detail-oriented. Strong work ethic and ability to multitask and work independently
- Proficient with the full MS Office Suite, Google Docs, project management software and databases.

**Desirable**
- Ability to thrive working in an open-space environment, remotely, or a hybrid model.

**NOTE: This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario, with a possibility of remote work within Ottawa only.**

**Salary**:$54,600 annually.
