DCC is a dynamic and fast-paced Crown corporation whose clients include the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Commissioning Professional to join our Halifax-based DCC team.

The Commissioning Coordinator plans, leads and/or monitors all aspects of the commissioning process through the design, construction, handover/occupancy, and warranty phases. These services can be provided through in-house resources or third-party contracts. The Commissioning Coordinator interacts with all levels of project personnel, from trades to contractors to owners, and adapts to different audiences to build rapport and good working relationships. The incumbent carries out or oversees all commissioning activities (e.g. prepares reports, verifies and witnesses static and dynamic testing, inspects building systems, etc.) for contracts with commissioning requirements ranging from moderate to high complexity. The incumbent is Halifax-based, but may take on additional roles, such as coordinating regional commissioning work, as required.

DCC’s capabilities in mechanical, electrical, and other infrastructure-related disciplines ensures that building systems are designed, installed, functionally tested and capable of meeting the client’s operational needs before the facility is turned over to the client.

**KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES**

**The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive**:
**Primary**
- May act as commissioning authority for LEED and Green Globes certified projects within a region.
- Review drawings and specifications for commissioning requirements.
- Prepare design review, commissioning and testing plans and reports.
- Verify equipment installation and function and witness static and dynamic testing.
- Complete estimates for contract changes to support construction coordinators.
- Review consultant statements of work to ensure commissioning requirements are clear and comply with DCC quality assurance requirements.
- Identify potential commissioning problems and make recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on possible solutions.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders.
- Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations.
- Manage risk related to commissioning activities.

**Other**
- Research proposed new or unique solutions and provide advice, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**SKILLS**
**General and Specific Knowledge**
- Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in construction commissioning.
- New building commissioning, retro
- and recommissioning of existing buildings.
- Experience with commissioning processes as outlined by ASHRAE, LEED, BCxA or equivalent.
- Commissioning schedules, tools and technologies.
- Roles and responsibilities of the project team in commissioning and training.
- System-by-system commissioning requirements.
- Testing Air Balancing and verification procedures.
- LEED and Green Globes rating systems.
- Project, contract and risk management principles.
- Health and safety management.

**Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience**
- **Minimum**:college diploma in mechanical, electrical, telecommunications or building automation control systems or related field with five years’ experience, or the equivalent.
- **Preferred**: Commissioning related education and/or certification (e.g. QCxP, BCxP, CCP, EBCx, or equivalent) is an asset.

**Abilities**
- Use applicable computer software and operating systems.
- Interpret drawings and specifications.

**DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP**
- Provide functional direction and advice to employees and to Client-Partners across the Atlantic Region.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Typical construction site environment; incumbent is required to wear basic safety equipment.
- Some work may be in a typical office environment with occasional travel.
