**The Role**

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Accounting Assistant who shares our passion for excellence. This is a role which will allow you to grow your career

The Accounting Assistant responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. You will also run accounting software programs (e.g. SAP) to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful accounting assistant should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers. Confidentiality is a must. Support for other departments within the organization will be a part of this role. This role will provide the successful applicant with exposure to all areas of the operations.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following**:

- Maintains accounting records by making copies; filing documents
- Maintains accounting databases
- Check, verify and process documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts
- Computes and records charges, refunds, cost of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items
- Type vouchers, invoices, checks, reports, and other records
- Assist with month end closing
- Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries
- Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion

**Knowledge and Ability**:

- Associate degree in business or accounting preferred; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with Google Sheets, Gmail,and other Windows Office Suite programs required.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
- Ability to exercise judgment, professionalism, diplomacy and discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills with setting priorities to work productively and in a well-organized manner.
- Ability to work effectively within a team approach or independently in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
- Competent organizing and prioritizing skills to work efficiently
- Attention to detail and accuracy, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
- Good mathematical background
- Good communication skills; ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills and follow-up effectively with all staffing levels and customers
- Ability to demonstrate good common sense and sound judgment
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction
